About Jonathan

Welcome to Connecting the Dots. I wrote semi-professionally about jazz from 2009 to 2015, starting with my blog Rehearsing the Blues, during which time I had the opportunity to conduct interviews with musicians such as Robert Glasper, Vijay Iyer, and Jason Moran, write for Nextbop.com and AllAboutJazz, and be featured in a discussion of Mostly Other People Do the Killing's Blue with critic Richard Williams on Jez Nelson's Jazz on 3 on BBC Radio. I left the world of jazz criticism in 2014 to focus on other things, but have returned to blogging to give myself a space to write down and process my thoughts about the clothes, comics, movies, TV shows, books, art, and anything else interesting that I encounter in my life. I was an undergraduate English major focused on poetry, and hold a Master's degree in English Literature. I currently teach Upper School English at a private school in Massachusetts.
